        Privacy-First Design: H2A Compass is built with your privacy as our top priority. We do not create user accounts, collect personal information, or share your data with third parties.
    

1. Information We Do NOT Collect

H2A Compass does not collect, store, or transmit any personally identifiable information. We do NOT collect:

Names, email addresses, or contact information
Social Security numbers or immigration documents
Financial information or payment details
Location data or GPS coordinates
Browsing history or app usage analytics

2. Local Data Storage

All your data is stored exclusively on your device using secure local storage:

Calendar & Deadlines: Filing deadlines and calendar events stored locally on your device
Compliance Reports: Scorecard results, timeline reports, and inspection checklists stored locally
Secure Documents: Worker transfer/rollover documents encrypted and stored in device-secure storage with biometric authentication
OCR Results: Scanned documents and translations cached locally for offline access

Important: If you uninstall the app, all locally stored data will be permanently deleted from your device.

3. Camera Permission

H2A Compass requests camera access for the following features:

Paystub Compliance Checker: Scan paystubs to verify wage compliance with OCR technology
Document Translator: Scan documents (contracts, notices, pay statements) for instant translation
3-Year Limit Calculator: Scan passport and I-94 documents to calculate H-2A eligibility

Privacy Protection: Photos and scanned documents are processed locally on your device and are never uploaded to our servers or shared with third parties. You can deny camera permission and manually enter information instead.

4. Push Notifications

H2A Compass uses anonymous push notifications to deliver regulatory updates:

We store only an anonymous device token (no personal information attached)
Notifications are broadcast to all users or filtered by state
We cannot identify individual users from push tokens
You can disable notifications in your device settings at any time

5. Third-Party Services

H2A Compass uses the following third-party services with limited data access:

Google Cloud Vision API: Processes scanned images for OCR (Optical Character Recognition). Images are sent to Google's servers for text extraction only and are not stored by Google.
Google Cloud Translation API: Translates extracted text into English, Spanish, or Afrikaans. Text is sent to Google's servers for translation only and is not stored by Google.
App Store Payment Processing: Your subscription is managed by Apple App Store or Google Play Store. We never see your payment information.

6. No User Accounts

H2A Compass operates without user accounts:

No registration required
No passwords to remember
No email verification
No server-side user profiles

This architecture ensures we cannot track, identify, or profile individual users.

7. Data Sharing

We do not share, sell, or rent your information to third parties.

The only data transmission occurs when:

You use OCR features (images sent to Google Cloud APIs and immediately processed)
You register for push notifications (anonymous device token stored on our server)
You voluntarily email documents to yourself using your device's native email client

8. Children's Privacy

H2A Compass is intended for adults aged 18 and older involved in H-2A agricultural employment. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

9. Security

We implement industry-standard security measures:

Worker documents stored with device-level encryption (SecureStore)
Biometric authentication required for sensitive document access
HTTPS encryption for all network communications
Anonymous push token storage with no personally identifiable information

10. Your Rights

Because we don't collect personal data, there is no data to access, modify, or delete from our servers. You have full control over your local data:

Delete individual calendar entries, compliance reports, or scanned documents within the app
Uninstall the app to permanently remove all local data from your device
Disable camera permissions in your device settings
Disable push notifications in your device settings

11. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this privacy policy to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. Updates will be posted within the app and on this page with a new "Last Updated" date.
